We live in a world where we are constantly plugged in,and in our generation it rarely makes a difference in our biology whether its day and night, which may be the reason why we need more technology and processes to remind us to switch, dim it down or induce certain light patterns, because naturally organisms on Earth are adapted to a 24hr Solar day, so yes, seeing as we are constantly on the go maybe we need assistance in reminding ourselves that our eyes need less light.
According to research conducted by T Bedrosian and R Nelson, “Predictable daily cycles of light and dark allow for the synchronization of behavioural and biological processes to the external environment. For humans, temporal organization of physiology is equally important for health and wellness”. Over the last century and the avid use of Cellphone devices and Laptops, it has come to light that electric light has obscured. Bedrosian and Nelson state that; “Circadian, which is the natural cycle of a 24hr solar process, has been severely disrupted within humans and wildlife.”
It is now apparent that the use of light has become increasingly prevalent especially within urban areas, which has a number of major health risks that humans may be prone to suffer. With the dawn of technology, we have been able to artificially extend the day, meaning our brains struggle to define the difference between day time and night time. Light in our bodily function is an entertainment cue used in the body to discriminate day and night, in simple terms our brains are not able to cue Melatonin, which is a hormone in our body we need in order to know it’s time to sleep.
The above-mentioned research speaks directly to the, I suppose the need for a device such as the Zing Smart Night Light, it is a full-colour, plug-in night light with smartphone control and light effects, including an automatic blue light reduction to help you sleep better. The conflict in your body is created by virtue of the fact that Sunlight contains UV and blue light, which is part of the visible light spectrum that reaches deeper into the eye.
Zing is an energy-efficient LED night light with dusk-to-dawn light and motion sensors. Powered by 12 full-color RGB+White LEDs, each capable of over 4-billion colors and 512 levels of brightness, Zing can be as soft or as brilliant as you’d like. Individually addressable LED elements allow for a full-range of light effects, from a cozy camp fire to the mysterious northern lights. Zing is easy on your eyes, literally. Zing automatically reduces blue light emissions at bedtime which has been shown to help you regulate your melatonin levels and sleep better.
However, Zing gets better than that, Zings will automatically learn and predict your entire path at night. Your midnight refrigerator runs, your kid’s trip to the bathroom, etc. Every Zing along your anticipated route will light up with a soft glow as soon as the first movement is detected. It does this automatically by observing and learning your movement patterns over the course of 7-10 days.
Zing also comes fully customizable using the Zing app. Events and triggers can be assigned their own colors and effects. You could customize it to tell you when your phone is ringing or signal where you misplaced a device, all this is simply done via Bluetooth.
Ultimately if you know you’re not the type to have a lifestyle that is suited to a particular pattern or regular schedule, the next best thing to do is purchase the Zing Night Light. But in the meantime be sure to always reduce the blue light on any device you are working on, especially an hour before bedtime.
