South Africa’s very own fashion icon, TV and Radio personality and MC, Bonang Matheba has once again put South Africa on the map after being named Best South African DJ at the International Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards ceremony that took place at The Forum in Los Angeles on Saturday 28 March 2015.
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, also known as the KCA’s or Kids Choice Awards, is an annual awards show that airs on the Nickolodeon cable channel. These awards honor the years biggest television, movie and music acts, as voted by Nickolodeon viewers.
Matheba beat out 94.7 DJ Whackead Simpson and 5fm’s Poppy Ntshongwana with more votes to take home the honours.
Last week, Matheba lost out on the Best Presenter prize at the South African Film and Television Awards, with the versatile Katlego Maboe emerging the winner, but she can now add the orange Nickelodeon blimp and recognition from the international channel to her mantelpiece and resumé.
Bonang is one woman that has put South Africa on the map, as in 2013, she was nominated as the ONLY face of Revlon outside the United States of America, joining Halle Berry, Olivia Wilde and Emma Stone.
Owner of Bonang Matheba Entertainment, Presenter of SA’s Premier Lifestyle show Top Billing, Presenter for SA’s popular radio show “The Front Row” on Metro FM, Host of Clash of The Choirs South Africa, just to name a few of her acheivements.
Bonang is set to put her feet in Morocco soon, as an invitation from the King of Morocco has reached her, where she will be representing South Africa once again at a conference he is hosting. Salute to her for flying the South African flag high, and representing our beloved continent so well.
