Township Businesses Get Opportunity to Showcase their Products to Big Business
Access to markets is identified as the biggest hurdle for township businesses. This conclusion arises from the township economic revitalization Roadshows undertaken by the Gauteng government across 65 townships last year. The 2015 Smart Procurement World Conference co-located with the ABSA Enterprise Supplier & Development Expo to be held on 8-9 September aims to address this challenge by giving forty (40) township businesses an opportunity to showcase their products to big business.
During the conference, SMMEs will be introduced to over a hundred procurement professional from across industries in South Africa and also a chance to exhibit their businesses. The SMMEs are from various sectors such as property, construction, engineering, human resources, manufacturing, transport and logistics, warehousing and Agriculture, etc.
In partnership with Smart Procurement World South Africa, Absa Bank and Edcon, Gauteng Department of Economic Development will send 40 SMMEs to be dressed for success by Edcon on Thursday 3 September at Edgars, Sandton City. Clothing vouchers will be handed to the SMMEs where they will be coached by a style expert on how to dress for success for meeting and get ready for the upcoming conference and expo on the 8-9 September.
