Volvo XC60 wins World Car Of The Year 2018

Earlier this year the winners of the World Car of the Year Awards have been announced at the New York Auto Show. The overall winner from an initial entry list of thirty-four vehicles worldwide was the Volvo XC60. The runners-up were the Mazda CX‐5, and Range Rover Velar.

To qualify for the overall World Car award, the contenders must have been available for sale on at least two continents from 1 January 2017 – 31 May 2018. Cars were selected and voted on by an international jury panel of 82 top‐level automotive journalists from 24 countries.

Each assessor was appointed by the World Car Steering Committee on the basis of their expertise, experience, credibility, and influence.  Each assessor typically drives and evaluates new vehicles on a regular basis as part of their professional work.

Through their respective outlets they collectively reach an audience of multiple millions world‐wide.  The international accounting firm KPMG tabulates the assessors’ ballots.
